nice article. refreshing..good for morale even. im 39. i lived 28 years before the net began to change my whole being in 1999,i found it amazing.inspirational.empowering. now its 2010. i'm sick of cliquey, ass-kiss, parochial forums. i follow spoof celebs and statesmen on twitter for laughs but otherwise it seems pointless and banal. and forums have become repositories of banality, sock puppet tag teams, cliqes, trolls, boring. after 15 years im bored of mobile phones after 10 years tired of multimedia culumny. i want the 80's back. real, physical freinds, gaps in general knowledge that stimulated conversation, true anonymity - not being tapped and cached and GPS everywhere like some Stasi superstate. what was so bad with post it notes and 'call back later'. maybe walk to your friends house and the light is on..so you knock at the door, sit in kitchen..and listen to a compliation tape.
"digital maoism" the expression was coined a few years ago. it's web 2.0. noone is questioning the need for all this infocrap anymore. just swallowing whatever is presented. btw i am not a luddite. been interested in comms technology all my life. until now. peace/out

Dislike Twitter?!!! Don't you like self-centred arrogance then?
But FYI I use FarceBook coz it means I can play virtual Scrabble with my friends (I see no other value).
Also, I am now in a great band due to the power of Myspace: it meant I was able to contact a band who were advertising for a bassist on a different website without actually paying mon£y to subscribe to it.
But agreed, letting the world know what XBox game one is playing is pretty dull.
