Yoli Moli [Rough Mix]
Adrian Belew is a talented guy. He is also one of the guitarists in King Crimson. He also paints pictures. Over at his blog, he's running a competition to win some of his art. In return, us musical noodlers who lurk on the net must record a song using a backing track taken from his back catalogue. In my spare moments, I have recorded this little ditty. At the moment, I don't feel it is finished. It needs to be shortened by about 30 seconds and maybe needs some other percussion or more detail that I've not thought of yet. Not sure if I'll even enter it as I hate entering competitions because I never win. Oh well, this is the rough version of something called Yoli Moli:

Man, that's some excellent work there. The main synth guitar theme is rather catchy! The bass is a subtle but tasty addition too! I do think the track should breath a little. Do you think it would work if you added eight bars in the beginning, using the first marimba figure, with from the synth guitar nothing but a low drone? Similarly at 01:08 when the main theme has repeated twice, the synth guitar could pipe down for a moment (maybe just do the drone thing). It's a bit tiring for the ear to hear it throughout. But after a break coming back to that main theme would sound fantastic, I bet!
