To get your own copy of the album, you can download it from here (as the CD version is prohibitively expensive): http://amzn.to/uk-mp3
And so my beady eye is cast over the self-titled album from prog supergroup “U.K.” – this was a request from a viewer, so sit back and enjoy me getting down and dirty with some jazz fusion. Now, I remember enjoying the first side of this back in the day but how will I get on with it in a late night vinyl listening session?
« Prog Review 81: Lizard – King Crimson First Look: Can – The Lost Tapes UNBOXING »

Hello, hello, hello…as you always say.
Just wanted to send a note your way expressing thanks for entertaining me on YouTube. I have been lurking about since you launched (or near that time anyway). I am a Yes (or should I say I WAS a Yes fan), and I saw your review of FLY FROM HERE. Been checking several times a week ever since to see what is next on the agenda. I will admit up front that while I do not agree with some of your views, I am very glad you are about.
I am in Ohio…far, far away. I should also let you know upfront that I am a very big Rush fan…I can see you rolling your eyes from here. Nonetheless…I am always on the lookout for anything that expands my horizons. I just turned 42, and I have been collecting since I was about 8. You do the math. My collection encompasses quite a bit…much of which I am sure you would NOT enjoy. At the heart though is a healthy dose of good old prog…or what passes for it in my neck of the woods anyway.
I know you are a huge Crimson fan (and I think you give Mr. Wetton a rough way to go much of the time), but I wonder if you have any knowledge or interest in National Health. I only mention them because if I am not mistaken Dave Stewart is the keyboardist who also appears on the Bruford works you recently touched upon. Just curious.
This not something I normally do, but I had to jot down a note to give you praise for the reviews/unboxings/commentaries you provide. You have developed quite a rhythm since your earlier videos. I am sure you get many emails or gripes or people pissing and moaning, but like I said…while I am not in 100% agreement with you…I really look forward to your postings. Just wanted to say thanks, keep up the fab work, and know that all these miles away…there is another goofy prog fan that enjoys your work.
All the best my friend…
Todd Rorick
I am glad you appreciate the videos and take them for what they are. While I get to offer my opinions on these records, the aim is not necessarily to start a flame war, but to get people going back to the music collection or discovering these records for the first time. I try and be as objective and honest as possible.
In terms of age, I am just a year behind you, but I’ve only been collecting music since I was twelve or thirteen. I am sure I have plenty of music in my collection you wouldn’t enjoy too! LOL
I am not that hard on Wetton – he is great in KC, good when he guests for others, but his own solo career just leaves me cold. He wants to be the great balladeer but I find his sentiments mawkish and a little hard to process. But each to their own…
Yeah, National Health…that’s my next review then… LOL
I am lucky in that my following is kind to me. Yeah, I might get the odd troll but I can handle that, but the majority of folks understand what I am trying to do or my rationale and so have been very kind and supportive – you are one of those folks and I am eternally grateful that I have found such a decent audience. It’s a good feeling.
There’s only one thing left to say and that’s…
PROG ON!
D
PS. Thanks for the kind words and that.
