This week saw the release of a new app for the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone which aimed to help the user experience the life, art and music of Jimi Hendrix.
The best description I can give of this app is that it is a bit like a software version of a coffee table book. It is packed with information, pictures, videos and clips of Jimi Hendrix’s songs. There’s a video gallery and a nice discography too.
But what do I think? Well you’ll have to watch the video to find out!

« OnLive Cloud Gaming System – Unboxing and Review Prog Review 29: Quadrophenia Director’s Cut Deluxe Box Set REVIEW »

Dear Darren, I have been enjoying your site and reviews very much since stumbling across it. My prog credentials have lapsed in recent years but I still hold a candle (or lighter) for the likes of Genesis, Pink Floyd, The Who etc.
I have bumbling around your site looking for a point of contact and this is the only way I can find apart from Twitter which I tend just to use for work only.
I wonder if you would be up for a challenge? The 856th edition of “Now That’s What I Call Christmas” CD came out recently which I was alerted to via an iTunes advert. For shame I clicked on the link and whilst scrolling through the predictable running order – ‘Stop The Cavalry’, check… ‘I Believe In Father Christmas’, check – I noticed that there was a Jethro Tull song there and it got me a-wonderin’ if there could ever be a “Best of Christmas Prog” album (gatefold sleeve of course)…
Could the Gods of Magog ever decree such a thing? Maybe not, so you’ll have to do. With all this in mind I reckoned you would know if this could be done seeing as your Prog roots are doubtless deeper and more widespread than my own. I figured this could pass for an entertaining Christmas YouTube Special plus downloadable iTunes mix for those of us who need something more challenging than ‘Merry Christmas Everyfuckingbody” during the season of good-chill.
So do you think you could put your thinking cap on and oblige? A rating of 5 Progs awaits you.
John
Dear John,
Thanks for getting in contact. I am up for a challenge. However, I already have something planned for Xmas via my YouTube channel. All I can say is that it involves a Santa costume, 25 days and enough festive prog fun to make you beg for mercy.
ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
Watch this space and laugh (frequently).
Regards,
Darren
